Nampa Thrifting

For some reason Nampa seems to have excellent thrift stores.  Some of Todd's favorite shirts are Nampa thrift finds from years ago (and he is still wearing them!). I think I would like to use the fabric for a simple wool-ish quilt I have been dreaming up.  The blouses are old and silk and quite lovely actually.  And Michael Jackson for twenty cents? That's a pretty good deal.

I could have spent all week going through the stores there.  Maybe next time?

Idaho

We just had the best week in Nampa & Boise. After I got home I realized that I really didn't take very many pictures (most of these were taken on the way there actually).  Between visiting friends, hanging with my sister and her fiance, eating out, going to the lake, thrifting, fishing, a concert, sight seeing, and more eating out, I guess I was just too busy.

Luckily we got to stay for free at Toni's cute little house (owned by our friends from home), and enjoyed quiet sunny mornings drinking coffee on the front porch. It was good to spend more time with Toni and Adam and get to know them better as a couple before their wedding in a few months!

When Todd and I got married I inherited all of his wonderful friends.  We spent a lot of time with some of them this week, and it was great.  They took us to all of the good places to eat around town and we got to hang out with their kids and catch up on everything.  I was really sad to leave actually.

Maybe we will be back for good someday?  Between Hyde Park, the awesome thrift stores, the big sunny skies, and our good friends I wouldn't mind one bit.

Babysitting

This last one was taken by Carson.

Today we leave for our vacation in Idaho.  Hooray!

To Do List

Todd mowed and weed wacked the grass in front of the tree house (thanks to my Dad for the goodwill finds on our mower and weed wacker), which makes access to this little spot by the creek much easier.  This morning I sat down there for a bit to read and make a list of things I need to get done during my time off.  My plan is to try to get as much done as possible during these cloudy days, so when the sun finally comes out to stay I can lay by the creek and read all day, or go for long walks with Brody.  Thank you God for my summer.

A Bridal Shower

My mom, my sister and I attended my almost sister in-law's bridal shower this past weekend.  Amazing house (did you see that view?),  gorgeous decorations, yummy food, and one happy & beautiful bride to be.  I just can't wait for the wedding!

Our Last Day

Yesterday was my last day of work and a bittersweet day for many of my co workers.  That's because it was also the last day in our beloved old school building.  The school district has deemed it too expensive to keep open, because of all the costs associated with such an old building.   So we packed our entire classroom and offices up in boxes (which was a ton of work...especially for Sheri!).  Hopefully the movers get all the right stuff to to the right place by August.  It really is a charming building and I am sad we are leaving.
I got to work with such great team this year! We had a lot of fun together.  Here's hoping at least some of us get to stay together for next year.

For You Mom!

I planted some morning glory seeds last night.

My nasturtiums are coming up!

I honestly don't really like the iris, but it was here when we moved in and seems to do quite well.  So I will leave it be.

I planted daisies from seed last year that never came up (so I thought).  But here they are!  I am so excited!

Scarlett runner beans are finally up.  I have never grown these before, and I really just want them for their pretty red blossoms more than anything.  We'll see how they do.

This guy hopped out of a flower pot as I was moving things around.

A Big Weekend!

We spent time with Toni and Adam in Portland this weekend, who were in town for our nephew's birthday (among other things).  We took the train downtown and hit up all the classic spots: Stumptown, Buffalo Exchange, Everyday Music, Kells etc etc.  I think we all had a great time.  And the next day they got engaged! The weekend ended with Carson's third birthday party.  I won't post any pictures so I don't spoil Kim's fun.  But it was a good time, believe me.
