Summer is Coming

For me, summer means time for lots of thrifting, garage saling and antiquing.
This week's finds: cheery red tablecloth, cloth napkins and spoons for my sugar dish.  There is another big antique sale this weekend.  (Todd doesn't know it yet, but we're going!)

My friend Bekah kindly gave me some plants for our back flower bed (which was formally mostly weeds).  I was so excited! She just has a ton of great plants at her place and knows all about how to divide them up and when. I learned a lot just by chatting with her about it all. Grow little plants, grow.

Trees and Flowers

I really wish I was better at operating our camera so I could have gotten a better shot of the road down to our house with the pretty white flowering trees.  It was beautiful.

Niece and Nephews

Todd and I love these three more than anything. We are so grateful for all of the time we get to spend with each of them.  Soon there will be two more babies to love. We just can't wait!

Last Week

Todd picked up some free firewood and spent one of the nicer days of the week adding it to our stack.  (We depleted all of our firewood with this terribly cold spring.)

I made a few trips to the Goodwill and found two excellent leather bags and some vintage fabric/binding that I think I will use as handles for a cloth bag.  I'm excited for a new project for my new sewing machine...and I am excited for my summer break, which means more time for thrifting and garage saling!

We got to end (yet another) busy week by using my birthday present from my co workers -a gift card to McMenamins.  Too bad the clouds had rolled in by the time any outdoor seating was available...but it was a great way to end a busy Sunday.

Oh, and on the way home from dinner (while checking my facebook mobile app) I saw the news that Bin Laden had been found. Thinking of the "where were you when" situations over history, I think it's just great that I got our generation's "big news" via facebook. Such a sign of the times.
More on how I feel about all of that later.  Maybe.
