Summertime

Everything is so wonderful this time of year at our cottage. Even when it rains and I'm stuck indoors and I feel like the walls are closing in on me, I am mostly very glad we are still living here.

Happy Hour

We had a semi-successful meal out today. Actually, it was just a walk along the river and happy hour. Thank goodness we didn't do dinner...Jude and Ivy lasted less than half an hour before the fussing began. We were thankful they allowed us a drink and a small bite to eat though!

It was nice to get out for at least a little bit. Maybe someday we will all get the hang of it.

Three Months

We have all come a long way in the past two months, from tears to smiles....for Jude, Ivy and myself.
Every bit of me absolutely loves every bit of them.

Father's Day

Todd's first moments as a dad.

Jude, Ivy, and I are just the luckiest. Todd works hard, puts us first, and loves spending time with us.  I could not be more grateful. We love him very much!

The Swing of Things

I've been cooking dinner again! We had mostly been eating frozen dinners and food that people have so kindly made for us.  But since the babes have been napping so well the past few weeks, I am back in the kitchen. I absolutely love making dinner and have really missed it. Now I get such a sense of accomplishment when we sit down to a pretty, healthy, and yummy meal after taking care of babies all day.  I've learned to do all the chopping and preparing during the afternoon nap time so all we have to do later is cook and eat.

So yes, things have been much much easier the past month.  Ivy & Jude are taking good naps during the day and sleep for one-two hour chunks.  At night we put them to bed around nine and they wake up at two or three in the morning, and then again at five or six.  A couple of times this past week they have skipped the five/six a.m. feeding and woke up at eight! I hope that's the new trend because I am terrible early in the morning.

The best and most important things that have made everything better are all the smiles. I am no longer just a feeding and diaper changing machine, but someone that these two can interact with and play with. I actually think they know that I am their mother!  Everyone said that once they started smiling everything would change. It really has.
